Aarhus

Denmark's second city, a harbour town on the coast of Jutland that began as the Viking settlement of Aros at the mouth of a little river and grew into a cathedral city. The old heart keeps its tight Latin Quarter of coloured houses, the flower-hung lane of Moellestien, and the longest and tallest church in the country, with an ancient crypt church hidden nearby beneath the Church of Our Lady. The modern city has remade itself as a capital of culture, crowned by the coloured-glass rainbow ring above the ARoS art museum, the reassembled old Denmark of the Den Gamle By museum, and a transformed harbour of glass towers around the great Dokk1 library on the water.
